Writing Home ($16.95) is sold in retail locations in southeast Michigan, including The Yellow Door Art Market in Berkley. Now in its second printing, the book includes 93 short pieces that were previously published in national magazines and newspapers.
The late Detroit News columnist and author, George Cantor, wrote a piece about the book after spending a day visiting my favorite hometown haunts with me. Cantor described Writing Home as "a love letter to home and family life."
It has earned several awards, including one from Writer's Digest and another from Midwest Independent Publishers Association. Young parents and empty nesters alike will relate to this collection of real-life family stories.
Proceeds from the sale of books from the first printing were donated to organizations serving the homeless in southeast Michigan.
